9/12/2023 0 Comments Oxenfree ending steam![]() ![]() Were always looking for that perfect ending in everything. Not sure if this was the answer you were looking for, but I did my best. Oxenfree is a game that only really ends when you put the controller down and quit the game. ![]() So Alex cursed herself to relive the same evens over and over to save her friends, which she did in a sense, until she manages to break free, or until the sunken win, whichever happens first in an infinite cycle.Īs for the triangles, they are just gateways into the realm where the sunken are stuck, because they are not dead, they just lost their physical form, but they refuse to pass onto the afterlife because they feel they were cheated out of their lives. Your choices don’t hold much weight either, leading to a disappointing ending compared with Oxenfree’s bomb drop of a finale. In the many endings of Oxenfree, Alex gets chances for a better outcome, and to live a little bit of her life before she is pulled back to the start, the rest of the cast goes on to live their full lives, probably even with an Alex of their own, a "post loop" Alex if you will, when Alex goes back to the ferry she is effectively interacting with past-selves of her friends, because they are part of the events of the loop, but they are not trapped in it, there are instances in which they seem to "recall" those events already happened, but no one really shows a good sense of repetition, and it most likely than not, they are recalling events of the smaller loops and not the big one, of course they are real and are affected by the changes made, thus the alterations to their "post island" selves. Oxenfree II adds a cult plotline but never really follows it through, giving the game an unfocused feeling, like there are too many plot threads without enough attention given to any single one. If for instance I would trap you inside a time loop in which I shoot you in the arm, and then it resets back before I press the trigger, then you would relive the same instant over and over, perhaps with slight variations, if you were able to keep your memories, and Alex can do this to a certain degree, you would remember me shooting you an infinite number of times, but from my point of view, I would have pulled that trigger once and only once. This has probably been discussed already but to me, Alex is the only person trapped inside the loop along the sunken, the reason for this being, the ending shows pretty much how a loop is suppose to work. It seems like mentioning there that Ren cared about her and hoped she liked him back does the ultimate trick for this ending.Well, the NG+ makes it look as thought there are other "versions" of Alex, but I'm not entirely sure this is true, at least not in a paralel timelines sense, and more on a future-past sense. I didn’t actually push it at all until the time loop where Nona is devastated over Ren’s supposed death and admits she had feelings for him. The night takes a terrifying turn when you unwittingly open a ghostly gate spawned from the island’s cryptic past.
